GERMAN INTERNET EXCHANGE DEPLOYS FORCE10 NETWORKS C-SERIES RESILIENT SWITCH TO DELIVER COST-EFFECTIVE 10 GIGABIT ETHERNET SERVICES
SAN JOSE, Calif., October 14, 2008 – Force10 Networks®, the pioneer in building and securing reliable networks, today announced that ECIX, a leading Internet exchange in Germany run by the Peering GmbH, has deployed the C-Series resilient switch to cost effectively deliver 10 Gigabit Ethernet peering services to its enterprise and service provider customers in Düsseldorf, Berlin and Hamburg. The Force10 C300 provides the scalable and reliable foundation that enables ECIX to deliver the high-bandwidth services its customers require and to guarantee their service level agreements.

As traffic increased on its switch-based network, it became prohibitively expensive to add the 10 Gigabit Ethernet ports to its legacy infrastructure to meet customer demand. To build a cost-effective alternative, ECIX leveraged the high density of the Force10 C300, which supports up to 384 line-rate Gigabit and 64 line-rate 10 Gigabit Ethernet ports in a small form factor. This density provides ECIX with the scalability it requires to satisfy growing customer demand for 10 Gigabit Ethernet peering services between Düsseldorf, Berlin and Hamburg.
With network uptime crucial for an Internet exchange, the Force10 C300 delivers the reliability ECIX requires to guarantee service level agreements.
